What is a WPATH Readiness Assessment?

What is a WPATH Readiness Assessment?

A WPATH‑informed readiness assessment is a focused clinical appointment where we:

  • Review your goals for care
  • Briefly review relevant health/mental health context (as needed for documentation and support planning)
  • Assess capacity for informed decision‑making by reviewing your understanding of the risks, benefits, and alternatives
  • Identify supports and practical considerations (e.g. recovery planning)
  • Prepare a letter of support/letter of readiness for the surgeon and MSI gender affirming care coverage

What is the cost?

What is the cost?

We believe this letter should not be required because it creates unnecessary gatekeeping, delays, and extra steps that patients do not typically face when accessing other medically necessary surgeries and care. While this requirement remains in place, we aim to make the process as affirming and respectful as possible and provide the assessment and letter at no cost to the client.
